Pimooteewin - The Journey is an opera written in Cree by Tomson Highway with music by Melissa Hui. Soundstreams which commissioned and produced the opera brought it on a tour of Northern Ontario. This gallery contains photographs taken at educational workshops held in Moosonee schools. For more information about the opera see http://www.soundstreams.ca.

Soprano Xin Wang, carrying her daughter, heads to a helicopter for the short flight across the Moose River from Moosonee to Moose Factory where she will be presenting workshops. This was the last day when helicopters were the only way across the river. Later that morning enough of the ice cleared out of the river to make it possible for taxi boats to start operations.
