In early 1983, Moosonee badly needed a new arena to replace the one that the town had inherited from the former Canadian Forces Station Moosonee. After years of consultations, it appeared that the project was dead due to a lack of funding. A group of local residents set up the Moosonee Action Group to demonstrate support for the arena and to raise funds. This album displays some of the group's publications and activities which ultimately resulted in the Ontario Government providing additional funding which, along with local fund raising, got the arena constructed.
One of the reasons for the urgency in getting a new arena, the rebuilding of Northern Lights Secondary School which had been occupying an number of disconnected buildings left over from Canadian Forces Station Moosonee.
